2001 ~ current date

 

Following JDSU's global re-allignment program the ownership of IC Optical Systems returns to Terry Dines and his team by way of an MBO. ICOS also takes ownership of all the rights to manufacture the ET-Series etalons and CS100 controllers. Focus is returned to servicing ICOS's former customers by manufacturing high precision quality optical components and systems.

1997 ~ 2001

 

IC Optical Systems Ltd becomes a division of QI through acquisition in the summer of 1997. ICOS is focussed on providing large quantities of miniature Fabry-Perots for channel monitors sold into the Telecoms market. Ownerships moves from QI to SDL Inc and then to JDS Uniphase.

1986 ~ 1997

 

Manufacturing of a wide range of optical components continues including the manufacture of FP etalon assemblies for the ET-Series Fabry-Perot etalons (operated by the CS100 Controller) for Queensgate Instruments Ltd (QI) and miniature etalon assemblies for QI's channel monitoring products.

1972 ~ 1986

 

ICOS builds a global reputation and continues to manufacture optical flats, Fabry-Perot etalons, custom lens systems, optically contacted assemblies and many diverse optical products for a world-wide customer base.

ICOS moves to its current location in about 1986.

1971 ~ 1972

 

IC Optical Systems Ltd relocates to Penge in South London in order to expand the manufacturing capabilities with newly acquired plant and machinery.

1970

 

IC Optical Systems Ltd was formed in this year. The founder members included Terry Dines the current Managing Director. The company was based in the Physics Department of Imperial College, London. Its aims were to provide high quality products for the Optics and Astronomy academic research groups and for a growing external customer base.
